CHARACTER
Name: Scott McCall
Canon: Teen Wolf (MTV)
Age: 16
Demigod/Hunter/Satyr/Nymph: He's a legacy of Victoria. In the future, I plan to have him get bitten and slowly transition into life as a werewolf as well, and it's pretty important to who he is as a character - both in this AU and as the main character of Teen Wolf proper, so I'll be talking at length about how that sort of thing affects him.
Demigod abilities: As a legacy, his abilities will be severely muted, so he'll really only have Victoria's enhanced athletic ability. He's got a little bit of the speed/strength like demigods, but it's mostly due to his enhanced athletic ability. It'll take a lot less nectar/ambrosia to burn him up, as well. He also doesn't suffer from ADHD or dyslexia due to getting Victoria's abilities secondhand, so to speak. And since he's just a legacy, his inherited powers don't bar him from having outstanding physical conditions, so his asthma might become a problem every so often.

Once he's bitten, though, things will change a lot, at great cost. The werewolf abilities (enhanced speed/strength/agility/healing, heightened senses) will bump him back up to being on par with a demigod, and the heightened senses in his canon sometimes cause him to have difficulty focusing, since he seems to be able to sense others heart rate/emotions, so I'd like to try and make that come across here as well, He'll also gain the ability to grow fur, fangs, and claws, and his eyes change color when he wolfs out.

The bad part about this is that gaining all these new abilities come with a price - that being...well, a werewolf. It's not all peaches and cream. Not only is he at the mercy of the full moon, but he also gains a serious bloodlust in this new form that sometimes arises when he's not in wolf-mode, and it's very difficult to control. He's got to learn to keep his emotions and physical state in check - everything from not freaking out about a difficult test to trying to calm himself down in more romantic situations - because one slip up could mean the difference between Scott using his new abilities to start beasting on the lacrosse field (or the Camp Half Blood volleyball court) or feasting on a poor victim.

Personality:

Scott McCall has been associated with dog motifs throughout his entire run as the main character of Teen Wolf, from Kate Argent telling him he looks like 'a little lost puuppy' to cats yowling and hissing at him at his job at the animal hospital right after he's turned, and in all honesty, it's a pretty good comparison.

At his heart, Scott is good-natured. He's active, usually bright eyed, and ready to take on challenges. With everything he does, even if he messes up, he really does mean well. The biggest problem is that he has difficulty getting out of sticky situations, particularly ones involving bad things he may have done - and he's as easy to read as a puppy who got into the garbage can in hopes of finding some leftover dinner. He stammers, searches for excuses that don't exactly make too much sense, and sometimes doesn't even talk his way out of them, asking people to just 'go with him' on things.

He's obviously curious, as he's seen in the first episode with his best friend Stiles prowling the woods in search of half a dead body. Admittedly, he may need some talking-into or an incentive before doing something particularly dangerous, and he'll be the first to remind everyone that an undertaking is risky. The exception to this rule is when people he cares about are in danger. Scott loves easily and fiercely, and regardless of how stupid (or smart) he's being in a situation, he has a tendency to put his neck on the line to defend the people he cares about. This happens when he risks his life going after the Alpha when his friends are trapped inside the high school as well as when he sabotages his mother's date with a powerful Alpha werewolf to protect her from being in danger or used as bait. He shows great remorse for letting his wolf tendencies get the best of him, like when he said that after a forced-turn while locked in their high school he felt the urge to kill everyone inside, including his best friend Stiles and his girlfriend Allison. His abilities can be a point of contention with him and have both helped and harmed him in the past, though he does his best to keep his shifted form a secret from the world as well as in-check due to the danger it poses to others, especially people he cares about.

Another important thing to remember about Scott - as well as another one of his dog-like tendencies - is his complex revolving around trust. Most people use 'trust issues' as a way to say a character has difficulty trusting anyone, but Scott's got a whole different form of trust issues under his belt. Just like with his care, he trusts fiercely and has a tendency to take things at face value - especially in regards to others' intentions or power, such as his distrust for all the adult Argents despite Allison being their daughter, and can mistake someone's demeanor as trying to harm him or help him when it was quite the opposite - clearly evident in his early relationship with Derek. It's difficult for him to break this sort of mentality, as once something is clear to Scott, he can be a bit stubborn to accept things as otherwise. Once, Derek proved to him that the Argents were truly a threat to be reckoned with and he was trying to help protect Scott from them when he showed him what they did to his uncle Peter, but even after all that, he was still quick to throw Derek under the bus when he needed someone to blame for all the killings in Beacon Hills to save face - he's a horrible liar, and Allison was right when she said he also had a 'tell'. He's never been the best at making up things in order to keep a situation under wraps, and it's clear hanging around Stiles has done nothing for him on that front.

Scott also has a bit of an independant streak, constantly wanting to prove himself on his own. Throughout the first season, the Alpha werewolf who bit him continually attempted to assimilate Scott into his pack as a Beta, whether it was by wanting Scott to kill with him on the full moon or forcing Scott to shift into his wolf form when he was trapped inside the school and sending him the mentality to want to kill. Over and over again, Scott refused to be part of any of it, branding himself as an Omega werewolf in his canon - the mentality established in this universe when he's separated from Derek and the Fourth Cohort for a time. It was only when he felt that it would be beneficial to help catch Jackson and stop him from killing everyone in his path that Scott agreed to be part of Derek's pack - something that will be established when Scott recieves the bite in-game.

Still, at his core, Scott is a well-meaning teenage boy who sometimes makes big blunders.

And, really, that makes him more similar to his human side than the wolf in him than anything.

AU History:

To say that Scott McCall had an ordinary childhood is an understatement. Beacon Hills is a pretty mediocre Californian town, and aside from the fact that it has a major hospital, there's not much to say about it.

Well, when he was growing up there, a rather large pack of werewolves lived there, too, but nobody really knew about that.

He was born a healthy baby to Melissa and Harold McCall, and didn't really have any health problems until he was around three, when it was discovered he had developed asthma. This caused Howard to breathe a sigh of relief, claiming that a family trait must have skipped a generation. He'd never tell Melissa personally what the problem was, which was what caused the first rift in their relationship - she was never really a big fan of secret keeping. 'Women love words', she'd always tell Scott, especially after the divorce that would happen when he was 13. Harold had become more distant, more snappish towards the both of them, and he was hardly ever home. Both parties decided that they'd be better off without the other, and Scott was left to be raised in a single-parent household.

Even before the divorce, though, Scott had a pretty good safety net to fall back on. His mom was always there to talk to and support him, and despite his issues with breathing sometimes, he tried to keep himself active as best as he can. He joined a lot of sports teams when he was a kid, but his favorite was always lacrosse - something he's still stuck with to current day. He's got especially fond memories of the day he tried out, when he met his best friend, Stiles Stilinski. The boy came over to him where Scott was warming the bench (an activity he'd find himself doing with Stiles quite a bit), parked it, and said 'We're going to be friends.' The two were inseparable ever since, and Stiles' house was a sort of safe haven for Scott when his parents were in the process of divorcing. Long, extended sleepovers where the boys ate whatever the Sheriff cooked for them, listened to police radio, and played video games all night were quite common. Later on, though, Scott would only be able to spend time with Stiles during the school year, since he went away to summer camp every year and left Scott in Beacon alone. He begged his mom to let him go along with Stiles, but once their dad left them, money was always tight and she couldn't follow through on his request.

The next interesting chapter in Scott's life happened on the eve of his fourteenth birthday. He fell asleep in his bed and woke up on the slats of a floor in an unfamiliar house, a pack of wolves sniffing and licking at him. The alpha of the pack opened her mouth and spoke to him, which was weird, but the weirder part was that he understood her. The wolf told him her name was Lupa, and that he was a second-generation child of a Roman god - a legacy, she called it - and was in the running to join the ranks of the Twelfth Legion of New Rome. She gave him vague directions to a place called Camp Jupiter, and told him that he must navigate himself to the camp and arrive in one piece in order to be considered.

This, of course, made no sense to Scott, and he didn't really see any pieces falling into place - seriously, his mom would've told him if he was related to a Roman god! But lost in the woods with no way back to Beacon Hills and nothing on him, Scott did his best to make it to Camp Jupiter. He got there by the skin of his teeth.

Once there, an anonymous letter of reccommendation was sent for Scott, and he was placed into the Fourth Legion - one watched closely by Lupa herself, since a wolf was their standard, and started on probatio for a year. He met another legionnaire from his hometown there, a son of Pluto by the name of Derek Hale, and he remembered the name, as the family was all over the news a few years ago when their house burnt down in the fire. He did his best to befriend Derek, despite his sullen nature. Scott was pretty horrible at being a Roman and falling into battle formations during war games, but he was claimed by his grandmother Victoria after he performed some aerial gymnastics and quick running on the battlefield. They were something he'd take back to lacrosse at school, finally getting him off that damn bench.

Once he was claimed, a lot of things started to fall into place. He found out his father was training for a big war between the Titans and the Gods far away and was part of the Roman army, a child of Victoria himself. He understood why sometimes there seemed to be scary monsters in his closet as a kid - they just might have been there, after all, but maybe his dad fought them away.

He was promoted to a full member of the Twelfth Legion just in time for the year that the Second Olympian War really heated up, and his first time seeing battle action was on Mount Othrys with the rest of the Fourth Cohort. He saw his fellow legionnaire, Derek, get promoted to centurion after one of theirs died fighting against Krios, and came to respect Derek even greater. Under Derek's leadership, Scott was able to bring his mother to live in New Rome while he trained at camp in the summer, since he felt she wasn't safe in Beacon Hills alone. He finally explained everything about himself and his father, remembering what she said - 'women love words'.

Unfortunately, Camp Jupiter fell, and the Fourth Legion began to make their way to Camp Half Blood on the East Coast as instructed by Juno Moneta. Scott followed Derek the whole way, his mother promising she'd meet him there with the rest of the people living in New Rome. Around Kansas, though, Scott got pretty lost. He spent time alone in the woods for two weeks, learning to hunt game and fend for himself against monsters - giving him a little bit of an independant mentality. When he did finally meet up again with Derek and made it to Camp Half-Blood, though, he had changed a little bit and was definitely doing his best to be self-sufficient.

SAMPLES
Iris Message:

[Scott's first learning to use the Iris Message system today, and he's still kind of figuring out the nuances. He's tempted to tap on it, like some people would do to a video screen, but the camper giving him the tutorial behind him waves his hands and makes a commotion.]

Oops. Sorry, I kind of forgot that would break it.

[Scott gives the rainbow he's looking into a sheepish smile, putting his hands into the pockets of his jeans. A tattoo on his forearm's clearly visible - the letters 'SPQR' with two black bars underneath - yep, this kid's clearly a Roman.]

So, uh, it's no metal eagles, but this is pretty cool. I do kind of miss them, though. Wonder what happened to them...?

Anyway, uh, my name's Scott McCall, Fourth Cohort.

[The other camper whispers something in his ear.]

You guys don't have cohorts? Wow. Okay, well, I'm a legacy of Victoria, which I guess you guys call Nike. So does that mean you all wear sneakers all the ti- wait, no, you probably get that a lot.

Anyway, I'm being given the grand tour, so if I haven't messed up too much already, if you wanna come over and say hi, feel free! I don't bite.
